Are you keeping up?

Are you all keeping a journal? I hope so. In the mean time here is a interview from the most popular right now Rihanna...

Rihanna reveals her diet and fitness secrets

In a recent interview, Rihanna revealed that she works hard to stay in shape. As she has previously stated, “carbs are the enemy” to her, but she says she gets weak if she goes three days without eating them.

You have an amazing figure. How do you stay in shape?
A lot of hard work and a lot of running on the treadmill. Cardio is the key. I have a personal trainer who travels with me if we have a big event coming up. I work out every day but I need a trainer to motivate me – I don’t find it much fun working out on my own.

What do you like about your body?
My bum, and I keep working at it as I want it to be perfect. It makes my clothes look good – and guys like it!

And what do you like least?
My legs. I’m insecure about them. Everyone wants to have slim, perfectly-toned legs and I’m the same. I do weights but I don’t want my legs to bulk up so I do a lot of cardio. I’ve lost a lot of weight since I started working out and if I exercise every day for a week, I can drop several pounds. If I diet, I see even faster results.

Do you have a strict diet?
Carbs are the enemy but if I go three days without them, I start getting weak. If my trainer had her way, I’d eat small meals every three hours, but I sometimes only eat once or twice a day. I have egg whites and pineapple for breakfast with hot water and lemon. For lunch I have fish and potatoes. I hate vegetables but I make myself eat them. For dinner I have fish again.

Does size matter?
Not at all. My size varies – sometimes I’m a (US) 2, sometimes 4 (UK 6 or – but what matters is being fit and healthy. Being slim makes me feel better about myself. It boosts my self-esteem, and having a toned body helps with my job because I wear a lot of skimpy costumes. My weight fluctuates, but I don’t weigh myself every day. I’m 5ft 8in and weigh around 9st 7lb.

Off the scene

So I know that I have left my fitbloggers hanging but I'm back. Challenge two is "Food Log". Write down everything that you eat for 14 days, that's two weeks. I mean everything. It might sound easy but it is not. And it does not count if you try to remember at the end of the day what you ate. WRITE AS YOU EAT!!!!!!! Love you all and stay healthy. Oh yea, don't forget to get in your fit day.

Fit Day #30

Good Evening

Today is the last day of the challenge and I wonder how many people was able to complete 30 straight days of cardio? It was hard for me but during this challenge I learned a lot about myself. I learned that even though I love to workout, my body does not like it everyday. So, just like me when you feel exhausted, rest. But of course you have to get to that point. If there is not hard work, then there really should not be a long rest. Today, I ran for 30 minutes then completed a strength workout at the Rec Center on FAMU Campus. Great Facility and the Staff there is great also. I'm here if you need me. New Challenge coming on September 1st... Stay Tuned!

Fit Day #29

Greetings,

Today is the first day of classes and I really had to work to get in my workout today. Of course the easiest thing for me to do is run, so I ran 2 miles and complete m
y push-ups and sit ups. Felt good as always. Just to add, I had a wonderful salad from Crispers.

Fit day #28

Fit Day #27

Salutations,

I did not exercise today. I celebrated my birthday with a brunch at Another Broken Egg Cafe. It was great. I really enjoyed the day with my husband and cousin. On the health tip, I did have a healthy breakfast. Back to it tomorrow though. Peace and wellness...

Fit Day #25

Hello Again,

Thursday, August 20, 2009 on the day that I was born, I completed a ten minute run, a functional strength routine and then another ten minute run. I then stretched and did my abdominal work. It was the best thing that I could have for my birthday. You all should make sure that you treat yourself to a dose of exercise each day. Keep working... Work hard... Work smart:-)

Fit Day #24

Greetings Everyone,

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 exercise consisted of a quick run and calistinic exercise, time totaling over 30 minutes. Exercise is so invigorating. I do not feel complete if I don't get in my exercise for the day. Challenge is about to end... Ready for a new one?

Fit Day #23

Good Evening,

Today I completed my workout at Premier Health and Fitness Center. I did my resistance training program for the day and walked. I have been walking a lot lately trying to rest up for this training season starting in mid September. With God's grace, you all will see me on ESPN competing in a world final much like those that I am watching now (Sonya Richardson, 400 meter World Champion 2009). Love you all and remember that your health is your wealth (Soul Vegetarian on Wheel's Quote).

Fit Day #22

Salutations,

Today is a new day. I will complete 4x5 minutes run at Premier Gym today due to rain. I will also complete my strength workout there as well. How is the eating going? Have we cut back on bad habits? I have. I am a big juice person (really not good), so I have challenged myself to have only one serving of juice per day and the rest water. It's going good so far. I wish my husband could do the same thing. He is a juice monster. Well, exercise well, rest well, eat well, Be Well...

Fit Day #21

Hello,

Today, I felt like a rock. I didn't really want to do anything. I walked for cardio today which really would not be considered cardio because it was not fast enough to really increase my heart rate. To calculate your Cardiovascular Improvement Heart Rate (estimated), follow this formula:

220-age=Age predicted Heart Rate Max
then multiply that number by 60-90% to get the range that you should stay between when doing cardiovascular exercise. You could keep up with your heart rate by taking a radial pulse or by wearing a heart rate monitor. I hope that this helps because just walking for the heck of it is not the best way to chase you fitness goals (unless your walking fast:-))

Fit Day #20

Fit Seekers,

It is good to type to you again. I had a wonderful run this morning at St. Marks Trail with my son "Dash". It looked as if it was going to rain but the Lord answered my prayers and it didn't. Afterward, Dash and I, walked a bit so that he could expend some energy. I completed some push-ups and sit-ups afterward as well. I don't see many comments so I guess people have fell out of the wagon. It's okay. More challenges to come.

Fit Day #19

Hello Fit Seeker

Today jump rope for 15 minutes and a 15 minute run. Felt good. The rain is a little depressing. Messes up your entire schedule. What did you guys do today? How did it feel? What will you do tomorrow? Want to meet me tomorrow for a run at Lake Ella? 9am... Don't be late!

*J-Fit*

Fit Day #18

How are we?

I hope that the challenge is going well for you. I am pleased with the comments that I have received from the Fit Day regulars. Thanks for the support guys and gals. Today, I simply walked around the track for thirty minutes. Nothing too hard plus I needed an active rest day to calm my nerves. I have been doing lots and I really need a break. It was calming and my joints enjoyed the break from all the pounding from running. Well, until next time... remember to post your fit day.

Fit Day #17

Good Morning,

So we only have about 13 more days left in this challenge. How are you all coming along? Do you find it difficult to commit to exercise everyday? How are you eating? Well, it has been challenging for me and I am used to exercise but I still make do. We have to make sacrifices in order to get to where it is we want to go. Today, I will be running at the track. Two 15 minutes runs and 6 strides. What are you doing?

*J-Fit*

Fit Day #16

Hello All,

Yesterday was soooooo crazy. I have been in an orientation for a new job all week, so it's been hard for me to post but duty calls and I need to answer (and I will). Yesterday, I performed a lot of my clients exercises with her as well as her walk to complete my thirty minutes of cardio due to time restricitions. I also performed my push-ups and sit-ups before bed. Not much, not too happy about it. What did you all do?

Fit Day #15

Great Morning,

My run at Tom Brown park was fantastic yesterday. It was nice and cool (not too cool), and the sunset was very pretty as I completed my workout. Today, I will probably do the elliptical trainer for about 45 minutes then switch it over to the treadmill to complete some 30 second strides. If you do not have access to a elliptical or treadmill, cycling will do or you can just do the old fashion way... walk, run, jumping jacks, jump rope... I can go on and on. Remember to stretch properly for about 8-10 minutes after each workout.

Fit Day #14

Happy Sunday People,

The beginning of another Fit Week. Let's make it a good one. If you have not been able to stick with the challenge, start fresh this week. Today I will complete 4 five minute runs at Tom Brown Park along with some one-leg diamond push-ups, pull-ups, squats holds, lunges and abdominal crunches. Push yourselves to workout and work hard. This is a movement. Obesity, diabetes and hypertension should not be diagnoses that we suffer from. They are PREVENTABLE! Take control of yourself and make a difference, starting with the man in the mirror (shout out to the late and great Micheal Joseph Jackson). Love you all and until the sun sets and rises again... Be Well!

Fit Day #13

Good Morning,

I am cleaning this morning. Normally I go on a long run Saturday morn. That run will happen this evening as the sun is going down. Have you guys/gals ever heard of P90X? It is a set of workout DVDs that includes intense strength/cardio combined workouts that confuse your muscles, therefore, giving you more results. Google it and tell me what you think. I will run about 3 miles today and complete my functional workout same as Monday. What are you going to do?

Fit Day #12

Good Afternoon,

Today was a rough day for me. It was the last day at my summer job. Very busy!!!!!!! I did get my workout in at work though. 45 minutes of kickball, extreme tag and grass drills with the campers. I'm poop. I recommend a bike ride for those who have not exercised today. A good 30 minutes and stretching should feel good. Take care and have fun.

Fit Day #11

Top of the Morning!

The jumps yesterday really have my knees aching a bit. So, I am going to heat them, get moving and remember to ice them today after my workout. If you are experiencing any joint pain, you should consult with your physician (as you should before starting any new exercise regiment). Ice will help with the inflammation and you might have to decrease the intensity of your workouts (ibuprofen won't hurt either). My workout today will consist of a 4 lap run around Lake Ella. It's very calming there and I need that since I am done with my finals. Be Well...

Fit Day #10

Greetings All,

I felt good after my runs yesterday. It was refreshing. Today, its back to the jump roping for me (30 minutes: 2x15 minute intervals), then the same strength workout as Monday. What are you going to do? I would love to hear... Remember to comment about YOUR Fit Day.

Until tomorrow...

Fit Day #9

Good Afternoon,

It takes thirty days of doing the same activity for that activity to become a habit. That is why I am challenging others to the 30 minutes of cardio for thirty days. In order to better the world as a whole, we have to better ourselves and pass it on from our generation to generations that follow. Let's be the example. Be eco-friendly with each decision and take care of yourselves.
On another note, my workout today will consist of two 15 mintute runs, with a 5 minute break in between. Of course, push-ups and sit-ups will follow along with my strecthing routine. Have fun...

Fit Day #8

Good Day Fit Seekers,

Today is a wonderful day for exercise, as is everyday. My workout consisted of 30 minutes of running on the Treadmill and 8 minutes of stretching. I will complete my strength workout later today after work. It will consist of Bosu Squats(quads and glutes), Reverse Lunge( quads, hamstrings, glutes), Calf Raises( calves), Incline Push-ups( pecs, triceps), Overhead Press( medial deltoid, trapezius), Bicep/Shoulder Complex( biceps and deltoids) and 4 sets of 100 abdominal crunches (different exercises). If that is too much for you, try machines or dumbbell exercises that target the same muscle group as my exercises. Also decrease the amount of abdominal exercises. Have fun...

Fit Day #7

Happy Sunday All,

It's the beginning of a new week. If you had a bad or not so good week last week, just dust yourself off and try again. Today, I am going to Lake Ella, a local park, to run. 1 lap around Lake Ella is 6/10 of a mile. If you run or walk around 4 times, that's a little over two miles. Afterwards, I will do bench push-ups, dips and crunches on the park bench. Come and join me. I will be there around 7:30pm. Happy exercising and as always... Be Well!

Fit Day #6

Salutations Fit Seekers,

Today was great for me. It started with going to the beach for my classmates bachorlorette getaway. Very fun and involved a great walk on the beach. Anywho, my workout today will consist of 30 minutes of running with six 100 meter strides. Strechting will follow along with 4 sets of 25 push-ups and sit ups. Sound like fun huh?!? If you can not complete that many push-ups and sit ups, lessen the load. Try 3 sets of 10 for starters. If it is difficult for you to get on the floor, try wall push-ups and standing abdominal isolations (pull belly button to spine, tighten abs and hold for about 30 seconds without holding your breath). Video's coming soon fit seekers. Comments anyone...

Until next time...
*J-Fit*

Fit Day #5

Hello All,

Sorry about the delay. I did not get a chance to workout until 10pm last night. Therefore, I am finally posting for Fit Day 5. 45 minutes of cardio video straight from On Demand (if you have Comcast Cable) was my cardio for the day. I didn't want to settle for that but I had to due to the rain yesterday. It wasn't so bad. So, mission accomplished... I won't let the rain ruin my parade. Rain or shine, fitness is mine!

Love you and Be Well
